As a part of developing professionalism among trekking professionals, Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal(TAAN) organized a skill building workshop on Executive Level Training on Correspondence Writing from January 4-9 at TAAN Secretariat at Maligaon.
Twenty-five staffers from different member agents of TAAN took part in the training. A total of six classes-each of an hour-were taken by experienced resource persons on Exploring Your Business Prospects, Replying to the Queries of Costumer/Consumer, Matchmaking Writing, Maintaining Relations/Thanking Letter to Clients, Responding to Complaints and Comforting and Promotional Media Writing.
Commenting on the training, one of the participants,Kamala Kumari Mahat from Danne Adventure Treks, said that the training had helped increase her level of confidence while corresponding with her clients. “Earlier, we used to correspond with out clients without any planning. Now, I have realized how the correspondence is important for our agency. It can easily break and relations. I hope that it will help our company in the long run,” Mahat said. She also said that TAAN should organize similar trainings and workshop on skill building on a regular basis. “But I felt that the training was a bit shorter. It would have been better, if the training hours were extended,” she suggested.
Another participant, Suresh Kumar Magar of Shangri-la Journeys, said the training had helped him enrich is professionalism on professional writing. “Earlier I used to write without any planning. But after taking the training, I am becoming extra careful in word selection and writing style. I am already getting positive feedback from our clients,” Magar said. He, however, complained that the training period was short. “Though we learnt a lot of things theoretically, we couldn’t show our resource persons what we learnt in practice. I think TAAN should focus more on practical aspects of such trainings in the future,” he said, suggesting TAAN to organize similar trainings on a regular basis. “I personally feel that small-time agents, who cannot spend much on trainings and skill building, will benefit a lot from such trainings,” he said.
Mr Gyaneshwor P.S. Mahato-Consultant at TAAN, Mr Laxman Gautam-Manager at NTB and Mr Sharad Pradhan-Media Consultant at NTB were the resource persons in the workshop.
